On Scope Creep

“What obstacles do project managers face to successful completion of an Information Technology project?”

A PMP: Installing a Utility

“Two words come to mind, "scope creep". Its critical to properly list the requirements of your project in the beginning so you can clearly define when it is a success or failure at the end. Another piece of the puzzle is to have proper change control.”

MüTō Observation:
We have found over time that in general, scope creep becomes diminished as lines-of-communication between the supplier and the beneficiaries becomes clearer. The most ideal scenario is to tackle communications upfront. Clear it up, and keep it clear. Then lock in agreements (with accountability tools) while actively managing that accountability into delivery.

Intro

This blog exists as a place where project managers can communicate and share experiences. We ask just a few simple rules;
- Please refrain from naming people/places, use words like Sponsor, Beneficiary, Supplier, etc.
- Please be civil, and professional. Tell the truth. We can take it.

We plan for this blog to be a place where project managers can exchange thoughts about what works, and what doesn't work on projects; how to handle specific obstacles, issues, risks, etc.

So, peruse the info, and feel free to leave us a comment!

Regards,
